Art Options
We use an incredible local printer who renders museum-grade canvas and paper reproductions. Depending on the work of art, you might have a choice of media, such as paper or canvas, and possibly different size choices.
Media and Mounting Options
Printing options for painting reproductions are:
- Canvas: This is a reproduction of an image on a superior, bright white, low glare canvas. The printer coats the canvas with a special UV acrylic 2-coat system. Small canvases are flat-shipped; we roll larger canvases and ship them in mailing tubes.
- Mounted canvas: First, the printer makes a canvas and seals it with 2-coats of acrylic. Next, the printer mounts the canvas on 3/16-inch Gatorfoam ™. Gatorfoam is a polystyrene foam bonded on both sides with wood fibers impregnated with resin. With this durable option, you do not need to use glass to cover the print. You can frame the canvas with or without a mat.
- Stretched canvas: The printer makes a custom wooden frame; and then, he stretches, folds, and staples the canvas around the frame. We use 1.5-inch deep wooden frames. All canvas edges are gallery finished with a mirror wrap. A mirror wrap is created by copying a portion of the image so that when you see the canvas from the side it looks like the picture spills outside of the borders. It is a neat effect; and with this option, you can choose to hang the bare canvas on the wall for a modern look. You can also use a frame that can accommodate a 1.5-inch profile.
- Watercolor paper: Our printer uses Crane Museo Max Fine Art Rag (365gsm) for an ultra lush look.
Printing options for photograph prints are:
- Photographic paper: The printer uses a smooth, glossy archival paper and ink combination reminiscent of traditional photo paper but with superior color gamut (color range).
- Canvas: This is a reproduction of an image on a superior, bright white, low glare canvas. The printer coats the canvas with a special UV acrylic 2-coat system.
About Size Options
You might notice that different paintings are available in only certain sizes. As a general rule, artists do not make prints or reproductions larger than the original painting. Dumpy Dog Creations respects this rule. If you desire a larger painting similar to one that you see on our website, we will be happy to put you in contact with the artist so he or she can work on a commissioned painting especially for you!
